Fire Department Receives FEMA Grant

October 12th, 2007 by Susan

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded the Armour Volunteer Fire Department a grant of $251,750 as part of its Assistance to Firefighters Program. The money will be used to purchase a new fire engine.

Assistance to Firefighters awards aim to enhance response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public with respect to fire and other hazards. The grants enable local fire departments to purchase or receive training, conduct first-responder health and safety programs, and buy equipment and response vehicles.

    Susan -

That is GREAT! How did your fire department get the Grant? Looks like your town has been working hard!

Tiffany — Armour’s volunteer fire crew has always worked really hard to apply for grants. The FEMA grant is an annual opportunity, I think. Our department networks with other fire agencies in the state because that helps with grant applications. Susan

Tiffany- I am on the Armour Fire Dept. and Susan is right we do work hard at writing our grants. One of the things that I think helps, is that our department has spent alot of time in the hills fighting fires. That can give you some great naratives when writing grants. Todd
